Secrets Behind the BEST Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies





Homemade chocolate chip cookies have been around forever!  I can’t even begin to imagine how many pans of cookies I have made through the years.  Today we have pre-packaged chocolate chip cookies that are very easy to make and have taken the place of homemade ones.  Okay, I agree the pre-packaged ones are easy to make and are really good, but I still believe they can’t compare to homemade ones!  Sure it takes some time to make homemade and dipping the cookies out one by one from the batter and baking them does take some time.  

So what is a good solution to making someone want to bother with making them homemade?  

Well, have you ever looked at a Nestle Tollhouse semi-sweet chocolate morsel bag?

 If you do you will see there’s a different way to make them on the bag. Typically it is located on the back of the bag where the regular recipe is but this is at the bottom of the bag.  There you will find the recipe for pan cookies and when I noticed it, I tried it and have never gone back to the original way of making them.  They are a crowd pleaser and make a good batch of wonderful pan cookies! 

You just follow the regular recipe and put it in a pan instead of doing them individually.  I use a 9 x 13 pan because who has a 15 x 10?  Try it! I guarantee you and whoever else is eating them that they will love them!  

A Couple of Hints… I use self rising flour and add a tablespoon more than it calls for and I spread the batter without the chips in a slightly greased pan.  I then sprinkle the chocolate chips on the batter. I don’t care for the nuts but if you do, then just do the same thing.  Enjoy!



INGREDIENTS:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) of semi-sweet chocolate morsels 
1 cup chopped nuts



ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS

PREHEAT oven to 375° F. Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan. 

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Spread into prepared pan.

BAKE for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
